got asked, yesterday, why any dominant would want a submissive who would let herself become totally worthless. After all, if she is totally worthless, what value would she have to the dominant?
This is the response I gave. Hopefully it explains my perspective:
There is worthless and there is worthless.
When a holy man surrenders all pride, all worth, and becomes as nothing before his God, does he become worthless to his god as well?
Or, in surrendering traditional worth, does he show the degree to which he will go, even in his own suffering, in order to please his God? And, in doing so, does that demonstrate a wholly different kind of worth to his God?
Thus, should a submissive lose every last drop of worth. Should she be humiliated utterly. Should she cry her heart out in shame. Should she be whipped beyond all endurance, let needles be pushed through her flesh, take blow after blow. Should she lie back and accept it as she’s gang banged or raped. Should she look in to the camera that records every last indignity…
Should she surrender all the traditional self worth that throws limits up in the face of such things and purely offer her submission…
Is that girl really worthless? Or, in becoming worthless in the traditional sense, does she attain a different kind of worth?
Even if not taking to its ultimate extreme, isn’t that kind of the essence of much of D/s… That each step taken down is another taken up.
Or, sure, there’re those who want to fit D/s in to nice politically correct bounds, who’d never consider it reasonable to degrade, debase, devalue and humiliate. That’s cool if that’s what they’re in to. It’s just not my style.
