I've been doing a lot of changes to the site. Mostly program stuff, but while I was in the area, I decided to change the user account pages. Below are some images.
Basically, removed the sub-menu tabs and created a one-click menu list on the left. Instead of clicking several times, users can click once and get where they want to go.
Unfortunately, or not, there is a butt load of things you can do so it makes the menu long. I could add functionality to expand/contract the different sections, but then users would be two clicks away.
In this process, I increased the site width to 960px. This should fit well with 1024px monitors. Eventually, might go fluid with the layout. I'll might have to adjust some things on the pages due to the extra width, but should not be too noticeable.
The main menu had to be changed a little. If users notice, their My Account and Profile links are not in the upper left. Also took what I could out of the drop downs for the main menu.
Anyway... easier account menu? Too crowded? Should I add expand/contract?

Members check out the menu on the left hand side. It is a newer, user friendly personal account menu as opposed to the annoying drop down ones on the top.
I like it. It's a good improvement. _________________ Nikita |

Tried two different browsers, I'm not seeing it. I even used a browser that I hadn't used on MDS.
I'll wait a couple days, maybe the intertubes will send updated stuff to my area then. _________________ Guest |

I'm with ID on this one.........I can't experience the difference. Everything is the same on my computer, too.
From what I can see, it looks good! But I guess I'll have to wait til it finally makes it to the south (you know, we are the LAST to ever get a trend) before I can see it in person.

Something tells me this is maybe on the test site, and hasn't been incorporated into the live one yet..? _________________ Jon |

Yes, this is not on the live site yet. I merely posted the images to show people and get their feedback.
You will not see it until I update the main site. It's a big update, and I'll have to take the site down for some database changes. As well, you will lose all your cookie sessions because I changed how the site handles them (less cookies).
The article and kink link section will disappear too. The main site menu will also change. _________________ SiteAdmin |

hrm I go to a few sites that have such a menu occupying so much room on the left or right side.
It would be much more accommodating if that also had a minimize option for the entire menu table at the top.
It can be a pain to read reduced text or text chopped up in to shorter sections if and when that option was on every page. _________________ Guest |

Can you explain that a little more Wolfscout?
Putting a minimize, sort of like how you can minimize the boxes on the home page, would still leave the table space there (for the header and to open it again).
I also mentioned I could put an expand/contract menu. So when first coming to the page, you simply see the headers for each section. You can click a header, and it expands that menu only, closing any others that are open.
Is this what you meant?
And what do others think about it? _________________ SiteAdmin |

i like it. It looks better, and it is clear and fast to use.
Shrink boxes like on the home page? yes, it would be nice - having same style throughout the site is good and it is easier to find what you need if there is no long list on the left, but it is not essential. It is something long term user will use more, IMO. _________________ Wolffie |
