I have news for you. If the day comes when the military is knocking at your door, having an assault rifle instead of a shotgun ain't gonna mean squat.

The US military has about 1.4 million members. Down from about 2 million, thanks to Bill Clinton.

The population of the US is 305,006,064 according to http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html

This means the population out numbers the military about 217:1. Thomas Jefferson's point was that with those odds, an armed populace would act as a check to keep the government honest. Yes the 217 number includes children but even if you took them out you would still have significant odds to make a politician think twice. There is also the fact that some troops would turn on the government if asked to attack their own countrymen.

No, I might not save my house as a structure, but I can defend my life, my family and my country. Even Hitler viewed Switzerland as a not worth the expense of his troops lives.

Knowledge of weapons is just as important as ownership. With knowledge a weapon can always be removed from your enemy and put to your own use. The NRA was founded at the end of the Civil War to promote the marksmanship skills people need to be effective soldiers. Sports like hunting not only promote these skills but put food on ones table.

Bottom line is nothing I say will change someones opinion who is anti-gun ownership. Opinions based on emotion are seldom rational and thus can not be discussed or debated. Whether you chose to exercise your right to bear arms or not is up to you. Personally, I will exercise my rights to ensure I don't loose them. You are welcome to your views and opinions but when you attempt to take away rights guarantied me by the constitution; well then that would be a problem.

Something to ponder. The battle of Lexington which resulted in "The Shot Heard Around The World" and which lead to our independence, was a result of the British trying to raid the arms stored in Lexington and Concord. Study your history, guns are a large part of our history. Guns are the tools of freedom. It's how we obtained our freedom, the freedom of millions of others around the world and they are how we defend our and others freedoms. With out knowledge of firearms we will cease to be free. Yep, it's really that simple. A gun, like my car is neither good nor evil, it is simply a tool to be used. Good or evil is a reflection of the operator, not the tool.

She's a perfect fit for his campaign
She'll attract former Hillary voters who don't like Obama

She's attractive and lord knows the voters in this country like attractive cadidates

Time will tell, but I think this race just got a whole lot better from the McCain perspective.

I think maturity levels levels in the 18 to 25 crowd (and even younger) vary enormously. Any 18 year old who is regularly mistaken for 25 or more after a half hour or more of conversation is probably ready. If in conversation with middle aged people he or she is always immediately identified as pre-twenties they aren't ready.

Other than that fast test, the questions I would ask are:

1) Has it hit you that you and others are mortal yet? I mean this on a gut level not just an intellectual truth.

2) Do you consider safety before beginning anything new?

3) Do you realize that regardless of what your sub consents to or you as a sub agree to that the responsibility for the results still rest with you?

4) Is your last grave error is judgment about risk BDSM or otherwise more than two years ago.

5) Do you consider the mental well-being of your partner at least as important as your own?

If the answer to all five question is yes, then they are probably ready.

If you are asking for your reply... to a comment left on your page... to be posted on the member page of the member you are replying to... Then no. That sort of defeats the whole purpose of having the threaded comments. They represent a conversation between you and others where everyone can read it without jumping to different areas of the site.
